On November 10th, 2019 Scientology released an article through Newswire.com announcing their grand opening of a new building in Columbus, OH.

Beleaguered leader David Miscavige made a rare appearance saying “Thank you very much, and what an honor to stand in Columbus on the day you dot the ‘I’ in Ohio! Consequently, and needless to say, this is also a day to swell your chests with Midwest pride. Because while Columbus may have discovered America, thanks to your perseverance, tenacity and sheer audacity, you just gave America a new Church of Scientology with which she can now discover herself.”

With this opening Miscavige does indeed dot the eye of Columbus.

Scientology’s infiltration gives what Money Magazine called in 2016 “One of the best big cities” a huge shiner.

Columbus’ citizens would do well to look to downtown Clearwater for an idea of things to come.

Miscavige referencing Christopher Columbus is a prophetic metaphor.

Columbus, like Miscavige, did what he did for power and riches. Upon arrival in Hispaniola he enslaved the local natives, forcing them to build a new settlement. When the native people grew tired of their treatment at the hands of the Spaniards, they rebelled, refusing to provide food and supplies.

Just as Scientology uses fear as a tool to control its members, Columbus discovered from an almanac that there soon would be a lunar eclipse. Using this, he threatened the natives saying he would take the moon away. After the eclipse they were so frightened they complied and obeyed their new masters.

Miscavige cares little for either his own followers or those who inhabit the towns and cities he descends upon. His need to turn Clearwater into a Scientological Mecca has left downtown a barren wasteland. Instead of a bustling, thriving center of tourism, the almost empty streets are loud in their silence.

Columbus also left desolation in his wake, bringing Smallpox and other disease to the indigenous people wiping out entire populations.

The explorer was motivated by the desire for riches and for conquest, caring little for the people he discovered along the way. In his diary he wrote, “‘They … brought us parrots and balls of cotton and spears and many other things, which they exchanged for the glass beads and hawks’ bells,’ he wrote. ‘They willingly traded everything they owned … They were well-built, with good bodies and handsome features …They do not bear arms, and do not know them, for I showed them a sword, they took it by the edge and cut themselves out of ignorance. They have no iron …They would make fine servants … With fifty men we could subjugate them all and make them do whatever we want.’”

So too did Miscavige attempt to force the Clearwater city council to obey his wishes and comply with his demands concerning the Clearwater Aquarium property. When his Will was thwarted, he attempted to use threats, saying he would refuse to pay for any further improvements if he was not allowed to purchase the property. When his strong arm tactics failed, he issued a boycott by Scientology of the local businesses downtown.

The article goes on to quote community leaders, including the Honorable Adam Miller, State Representative for Ohio’s 17th House District who allegedly gushed “we cherish your ‘old-fashioned,’ Midwestern approach of neighborhood friendship, neighborhood responsibility and neighborhood commitment.”

Neighborhood responsibility.

Is it not a neighborhood responsibility to protect and defend our children from being sexually molested rather than protect the pedophile? Is it not a neighborhood responsibility to ensure one’s workers are paid fairly, provided a safe and healthy work environment and that one complies with all the labor laws?

What about the neighborhood commitment to justice for the victims of rape? The commitment to ensure men and women can exercise their free will?

Is it neighborhood friendship to force people into penury in the name of tax free “donations”?

Committing credit card or bank fraud does not sound like old-fashioned values.

The city of Columbus, OH has welcomed a wolf in sheep’s clothing to their midst. The best the citizens can hope for is that the newly renovated property will end up sitting empty and unused like so many others Miscavige has opened. 50,000 square feet of wasted space that could have been better used for anything else.

For the worst case scenario, look to Clearwater for Miscavige’s version of conquest and destruction.

In fourteen hundred ninety-two

Columbus sailed the ocean blue.

He wasn’t the first to discover our land,

Power and riches drove his hand.

Down through time comes David Miscavige,

Who’s every bit as driven and savage.

‘Ware the city where this cult lands,

For Policy enforces the leader’s demands.
