On June 24, 2019 Scientology announced it’s 31st annual Maiden Voyage celebration aboard their cruise ship Freewinds.
In the article describing both the ship and the event, they make the claim; “Such is her reputation, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) appointed the Freewinds as a training platform to train crew members Caribbean-wide on maritime standards—a distinction it has held since 2007.”
This claim has been repeated on social media and is also currently found on Scientology’s site dedicated to Freewinds.
According to their website, The International Maritime Organization “is the United Nations specialized agency with responsibility for the safety and security of shipping and the prevention of marine and atmospheric pollution by ships.”
marineinsight.com explains the IMO’s responsibilities as to “develop and preserve a comprehensive framework of regulations and policies for the shipping industry and its activities like the maritime security, safety, technical cooperation, environmental concerns and legal matters.”
For Scientology’s private, religious retreat vessel to be appointed as a training platform by such an important, dedicated organization is both a high honor and a great achievement.
Bestowed with such a weighty responsibility by a respected United Nations agency indicates that the IMO found a ship being run by like minded seamen and women, dedicated to upholding the laws, policies and regulations of the shipping industry.
Certainly this honor and trust is something worth including as part of excellent press for Scientology, the Sea Organization and Freewinds’ crew.
Except for one, small detail.
Scientology is lying.

In 1988, I spent six weeks on The Freewinds as the In-Charge of the financial audits project for both the Majestic Cruise Lines and the Flag Ship Service Org.
I got into Scientology at the Salt Lake City Mission and, for the next 37 years, dedicated myself to L. Ron Hubbard. I served in the Sea Org for two years, handled financial audits for Applied Scholastics and WISE. I even spent over two years handling audits for the old Church of Scientology of California for the Office of Special Affairs. Later, I spent about seven years at Sterling Management Systems handling various financial duties, followed by a couple of years at Management Success.
You might think, then, that this is a Scientology Success Story.
It isn’t.
I escaped that dreadful cult in 2014.
And I approve this message (well done, Stefani!).
