Facebook’s Refusal To Confront Abuse

Dear Ms Newstead:

My name is Stefani Hutchison. I am a writer, blogger and activist dedicated to exposing the abuses and crimes of Scientology.

Currently on Facebook there is an account by a Scientologist named Taryn Teutsch; https://www.facebook.com/TarynRinder that is in egregious violation of policies regarding harassment, fake news and cyber bullying.

I am writing to you because numerous attempts to have this account removed have fallen on deaf ears.

The sole reason for the existence of this account is the destruction of an innocent man’s character, reputation and livelihood.

Scientology’s policy of Fair Game is thus far being supported and protected by Facebook with every day this account is permitted to exist.

Taryn Rinder Teutsch publicly proclaims that her father, former Scientology member Mike Rinder, viciously attacked her mother in 2010, injuring her and leaving her damaged for life.

She accompanies her claims with disturbing photographs of the alleged event in order to further incite public outrage and hate against Rinder.

The indisputable facts of this event are clearly covered in a Pinellas County, Florida Sheriff report from the scene of the incident as well as several other documents.

As an attorney evidence and facts carry weight over hearsay. Teutsch’s story evolves and changes almost every time she tells it and always it is refuted by legally acceptable documentation.

Taryn claims that Mike Rinder attacked Cathy Bernardini, grabbing her and doing damage that changes from dislocation to broken bones of the shoulder. She further alleges that he “gouged” her mother’s arm so severely that blood was “spurting on the walls”, the flesh was “stripped from wrist to forearm”.

According to the orthopedic surgeon who treated Bernardini his patient, while claiming she was assaulted, was in fact treated for tendinitis, bursitis and and acromion hook with impingement. The Paramedic’s report clearly states not only that Bernardini was only suffering from one, minor 2” skin tear to her right arm, but that according to her the pain was only a 2 out of 10, she refused further medical treatment and she signed the refusal form herself. There was no mention whatsoever of any additional injuries nor any serious shoulder damage.

The investigating officer’s report not only exonerates Mike Rinder of any crime but it in fact shows that it was Rinder himself who was the victim of this event.

Multiple people were present during this incident yet in speaking to the investigating officer, no one, Bernardini included, mentioned any of the details that Teutsch now proclaims on her Facebook account.

Not only is this account a malicious and blatant attempt at the destruction of an innocent man’s life, but surely it is not what Facebook intends it’s platform be used for.

I am reaching out to you as an officer of the court and someone dedicated to justice to please have this account removed permanently so that this ongoing, vicious campaign of harassment against Mike Rinder will cease.

I am enclosing the documents mentioned above for your perusal and it is my most sincere hope that you will see that hate, harassment and lies of this magnitude are removed from Facebook as a sign that cyber bullying will not be tolerated.

I look forward to hearing from you concerning this matter and I sincerely thank you in advance for your time. Any assistance you may be able to provide would be greatly appreciated.
