September 11, 2021.
Difficult to believe that it’s been 20 years since the most devastating terrorist attack ever to occur on American soil.
Time, as it does, blunts the sharp edges of memories but trauma and loss remain so very real.
Children have grown up missing and mourning, families continued living around the gaping hole created by selfishness and hate. Friends raise a glass to empty chairs, only the echoes of a remembered smile still lingering in broken hearts.
Hate did this.
Intolerance and scorn towards those who dare to hold a different way of thought, belief and life did this.
Fanatics who look down on and know they are superior to everyone else did this.
The narcissistic blindness by these cults, and yes, Isis and the Taliban are cults, cares nothing for those outside it’s own intolerant, isolated sphere.
It is in this same vein that Scientology releases a most ironic of press releases.
Titled Church of Scientology International Honors Those Who Served After the 9/11 Terror Attacks it is in reality anything but an honoring of First Responders. Rather, in true Hubbardian form, this article is just another form of Stolen Valor.
From the beginning Scientology saw the tragic events of 9/11 as nothing more than an opportunity. Defying the perimeters set up for public safety, Scientology forced its way into Ground Zero.
“There was a very large barricade there manned by both Police and Military and they absolutely refused to let us though. The SO member in charge of the VM’s ‘snuck’ about 5 of us in another way and on the way we gave out cold drinks to tired rescue workers.”
Is it ethical to violate a safe zone created and protected by the military in the name of national security?
This however, is only the tip of the iceberg.
“The fire-fighter company down the street from the org lost 14 members on Tuesday. No one can do anything for them or the rest but Scientologists. The other religions here with their ministers have shown their true colors and are working hand in hand with the psychs to give these people as much false data and restimulation as they can. They HAVE NO TECH and they’re not even trying to hide it anymore. They’ve crossed over and abandoned anything spiritual and to hell with them.”
Rather than honoring responders, this shows Scientology’s reality of scorn and intolerance. Such statements disrespect the selflessness of so many including Rabbi Jacob Goldstein and Father Kevin Madigan.
Scientology was not on scene that morning to provide for the needs of the First Responders. They were there for themselves.
Chaos and confusion reigned on September 11th. Scientology took full advantage of this, invading the area closed off for the sake of safety while employing the most egregious of deceit in the name of publicity.
As they did when they infiltrated Clearwater, FL, Scientology adopted a fictitious name; National Mental Health Assistance and convinced Fox News to run a phone number that was actually a Scientology hotline selling Dianetics across the screen.
Worst of all rather than doing all in their power to provide any support necessary to the traumatized, grieving First Responders, Scientology did all they could to deprive these heroes of relief.
“Additionally we are trying to move in and knock the psychs out of counseling to the grieving families and that could take another 100 plus people right now. Due to some brilliant maneuvering by some simply genius Sea Org Members we tied up the majority of the psychs who were attempting to get to families yesterday in Q&A, bullbait and wrangling. They have a hard time completing cycles of action and are pretty easy to disperse. But today they are out in full force and circling like vultures over these people and all of our resources are tied up in the support efforts in the disaster zone at present.”
In light of the facts, Scientology’s current press release is nothing more than literary masturbation.
Scientology clickbait.
Expecting to see a piece honoring those who put themselves on the line, at the very real risk of death, one is instead faced with self congratulatory fiction.
Not one First Responder is named or acknowledged.
Not one example of their extraordinary, selfless heroism is cited.
Rather, the reader is confronted with quote after sourceless quote lauding Scientology.
“‘We were under the pile, we were on top of it,’ said a retired New York City firefighter who served at Ground Zero. ‘We were chest-deep in muck.’ He recalls how the Volunteer Ministers were always there when they finished a shift. ‘We would come out of there. There was a whole support group on the outskirts of the pile. It made you feel good to know they were out there when you were going to come out of that hole.’”
Scientology’s press release is dripping with saccharine gratitude from nameless “First Responders” who most likely do not even exist.
The climax comes with the most inane, completely out of touch statement; “Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige spoke of the impact of the Church of Scientology of New York as headquarters of the Ground Zero effort. ‘With their recent actions and the compassion they have shown they now have a prominence greater than ever before.’ He announced that the IAS would be funding the full top-to-bottom restoration of the New York Church ‘in appreciation for their being there to help the city when it counted.’
This event happened less than a month after September 11, 2001.
Less than a month.
David Miscavige used a terrorist attack, the deaths of thousands of people as a fundraising tool to tap the members of the International Association of Scientologists for donations to refurbish one of their own buildings.
This should tell us all we need to know about Scientology.
Hey, all “esleazeastical leaders” have at least a captain’s rank, yes?
The pimping pontiff, Big Bean #1, has no clue about how bone-headed, self-serving, and plain stupid these kinds of “press releases” actually are. A greater portion of the general public now has, at the very least, an inkling of just how evil, corrupt, and abusive he and his fake church are.
Tick tock, you Machiavellian Homunculus; cellblock 47 awaits you, and its inhabitants are excitedly planning an “orange panty” welcome party for you!

Leaving aside the fundraiser (you’ve already given that atrocity all the attention it deserves), what an idiotic, tone-deaf non sequitur: “Scientology ecclesiastical leader Mr. David Miscavige spoke of the impact of the Church of Scientology of New York as headquarters of the Ground Zero effort. ‘With their recent actions and the compassion they have shown they now have a prominence greater than ever before.’
Where is the “impact” he’s speaking of? Let alone as “headquarters” of anything, least of all ” the Ground Zero effort.”
Did they save lives from the rubble?
Did they raise the dead with touch assists?
Help the cleanup?
Provide emergency supplies or expertise?
Did they comfort families?
Give financial help?
None of the above. Their only accomplishment, by their own admission, was to achieve FOR THEMSELVES “a prominence greater than ever before.” And of course, as all of us who followed the events back then well know, even that claim is a full-on narcissistic delusion.
Can you imagine the Red Cross, the NYPD or the Fire Fighters claiming something like “we showed up with 5 people and now everyone knows about us. Please donate for a new station house.”
