Freewinds Dodges a Bullet

Confront and Shatter Blog has written multiple articles concerning the Scientology ship, Freewinds.

Church of Scientology made the claim; “Such is her reputation, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) appointed the Freewinds as a training platform to train crew members Caribbean-wide on maritime standards—a distinction it has held since 2007.”

This claim was proven false.

As a consequence of the so-called training platform appointment, Scientology included a scene in their Freewinds video of Captain Napier in the midst of training members of the Dutch Caribbean Coast Guard.

Seeking clarification we reached out to Ms. Cynthia A. Devere LLM, Head Department Law Enforcement & Liaison, Department of Law Enforcement & Liaison for the Coast Guard for the Kingdom of the Netherlands in the Caribbean.

Ms Devere explained that this was not, in fact a training session but rather simply Captain Napier explaining to the DNCG how the ship was run.

During our communication with Ms. Devere, she mentioned that the International Maritime Organization had presented Freewinds with several awards.

Again another lie was exposed.

Freewinds is a dark mystery.

What really goes on below her gaudy, luxurious decks?

Stories have been told of people being held against their will, their passports taken and of being forced to perform grueling, dangerous labor.

Rumors abound that Freewinds is the destination for Scientologists who need to be kept from speaking to law enforcement.

COS claims that the infamous Hole at Int Base near Hemet, CA was closed. Is it possible that rather than discontinuing the abusive prison it was moved aboard the ship?

Our interest in Freewinds is such that in researching we managed to cause a small kerfuffle within the Dutch Coast Guard which was covered by Tony Ortega.

Our interest was once again peaked 10 months later when in December 2022 there was an announcement that “The UK Government Officially Takes Action Against Scientology”.

This announcement explained that due to violations of British maritime law and regulations the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency was initiating an investigation.

To whit, some of the details asserted;

…and the MCA has contacted many former British crew members of the Freewinds and has been collecting from them evidence about the conditions on board the Freewinds and whether these basic legal requirements were met and is also asking these people for the names of any other British citizens who are currently serving or has served in the past on the Freewinds ship.”

…the British government is energetically, enthusiastically and aggressively collecting as much information as it can from former Scientologists, British former Scientologists who have had anything to do with the Freewinds…”

Given our ongoing interest in the Scientology vessel this announcement was exciting and a giant step in the right direction. It was our hope that during such a thorough, government led initiative answers would be found as to how people were being treated aboard and that were there actual captives, the world would finally find out.

A year and four months has passed since the announcement of this groundbreaking governmental investigation. Having heard no updates, we reached out to the MCA to ask whether there was any information that could be shared.

We were most interested in whether any evidence of human trafficking may have been discovered or barring details as the inquiry was still ongoing, was there any statement that could be made at all?

Incredibly to our complete shock, disappointment and confusion, we discovered that no such investigation existed.

Ever.

So if you were also wondering about the progress of this much needed inquiry into the doings aboard Freewinds, here is your update.

Looks like Scientology and Freewinds dodged a bullet this time.

Damn.
